Sydney’s learn to ride cycling centre

Andrew McMillan and David Knights developed the civil engineering design for the new City of Sydney bike track at Sydney Park Cycling Centre. We worked closely with landscape architect, Turf Design, and the City of Sydney to develop the design.

The bike track includes challenges to help riders of all abilities learn safe riding skills and to gain confidence riding. The design included elements such as bumps, dips, mini hills and bends.

The facilities also include a learn to ride facility. The City of Sydney runs a variety of cycling courses from the centre including learn to ride, bicycle maintenance and balance bike workshops. As well as the cycle facility we also worked with the design team to undertake improvements to the path network within Sydney Park, to include a new network of shared paths throughout the park as part of the wetland explorer trail.
